Stan and me (Lann) Barry have set sail on our 43′ monohull for a few years of sailing! Starting in the Caribbean where our boat has been in charter service for the past 4 years with TMM. We’ve sold our house, quit our jobs, given, sold or stored everything and are headed out on an adventure. Stan had a dream to sail around the world. I don’t know if I can make it that far, but we’ve agreed to give it a try and see how far we get. We thought we’d retire aboard a sailboat, but as time went on, we decided we had the funds to get out there at least for a few years and we should just do this while we have the energy. I’m not a sailor, don’t know if I’ll ever get to the point where I feel comfortable calling myself a sailor, but I like the boat for the most part. The small space, pumping the toilets, the heat and humidity, washing clothes by hand, walking for our groceries–none of that really bothers me. Stan loves the technical aspects (the sails, the solar panels, the water maker, the engine) so we think we’re up for the challenges. And we seem to like each other . . . Let’s hope for fair winds!
